Nitrile is a type of synthetic rubber polymer. Basically it is made up from a combination of acrylonitrile and butadiene molecules. It is a short form of Nitrile Butadiene Rubber or NBR.

It is tough and temperature resistant and is also known for its oil resistance. It can function in minus 40 degree to 226 degree F temperatures.

Chemically inert it is also resistant to growth of fungi  and vermin. Also known as Cyano Compound it has a very distinct smell. It is widely used for piping hot and cold insulation such as air conditioners in household.
